Product Review: Crunchmaster's Gluten-Free Crackers #sponsor #momsmeet

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Moms Meet. All opinions are my own.
I am not strictly gluten-free, but my husband aims to be. So, as a family, we are eating less and less gluten. So, when the opportunity arose - through my association with Moms Meet - to try Crunchmaster Crackers, I was excited. We used to have cheese and crackers or cheese and bread all the time. And that beloved snack went the way of the dodo because we haven't really found any gluten-free crackers that we love.

Call off the dogs, we have found them! Eureka.

About the Crackers
  • These are 100% whole grain.
  • They are verified by the Non-GMO Project and have no artificial flavors or colors.
  • They are oven-baked.
  • They come in two varieties: Multi-Grain Sea Salt, made with a blend of whole grain brown rice, corn, and oat fiber, and Multi-Seed Original, made with sesame, quinoa, flax, and amaranth seeds.
  • A 4.5 oz bag of Crunchmaster Crackers retails for around $3.50.
  • In this area, I've found them at Safeway, Whole Foods, and Target. To find a store near you, visit their website: here.

About the Tasters
We went to the archery range with a group of kids and adults to celebrate my son's (belated) birthday. Here's the crew half-way through the course. By the time we reached the picnic area, we were all ravenous. I put together a cheese and cracker platter to get their opinions.

We tasted both varieties of crackers and I served them with truffle cheese from Italy, a triple-crème brie, and a medium cheddar. Because the kids were starving, I also offered them bars, Pink Pearl apples, sparkling juices, and sodas.

One of the moms has been gluten-free for several years. She said, "Sure, I'll taste them for you, but I already know my family loves them as they are my go-to, first choice gluten-free cracker."

It was hard to get the kids to talk to me about the crackers as they were stuffing them in their faces. Literally. Stuffing. Their. Faces.

I scolded one of my kids for putting three crackers in his mouth at one time!

I knew that the crackers had made a good first impression, but I wanted to get some thoughts from the kiddos when they weren't starving. So, for the second round of testing, I assembled tasting kits, dropped them off, and asked my group to give them another try.

More Comments
The general consensus was that they loved them and wouldn't have guessed they were gluten-free. The favorite seemed to be the original ones, versus the sea salt ones. But one comment I heard from more than one taster: "They are a little bit salty." I have to agree with that assessment. They were a little salty for my tastes. Here are some of the photos of the tasters along with comments.

"The kids really enjoyed the crackers, especially with hummus.  They liked the hexagonal one since they loved the sesame taste."

"Hummus and crackers for snack and even for breakfast"

Even some of the dads joined the taste-test. Thumbs up!

After ascertaining that I wanted total honesty, I got this: "Total honesty: M- didn't like them. I thought they were good and have the right amount of salt. R- thought they could use more seasoning, but she liked the crunch."

"They are almost more like chips than crackers. Can we try them with salsa or guacamole?"

The Verdict
These crackers are good. Not just "good for gluten-free." They are just plain good. There's a distinction. Does that make sense?

I like the crispness. I like how they crunch. I did find them a little bit salty, but I enjoyed the sesame seeds on the original version. We will definitely be buying these whenever we feel the need for crackers.

Quick Pickled Red Onions and Radishes

If you've been reading my blog for even a short amount of time, you probably know how much I love to pickle things. I was just telling a friend you can pickle - with vinegar - or you can ferment - with salt - for similar delicious effect. The latter has digestive benefits and I love to do that, but when I need that pop of sour flavor quickly, I whip up quick pickles that are ready in as little as a day or two. I've Pickled Blueberries , Pickled Asparagus , Pickled Cranberries , Pickled Pumpkin , and even Pickled Chard Stems ! This I did last night for an upcoming recipe challenge that requires I include radishes. Ummmm...of course I'm pickling them! Ingredients  makes 1 quart jar radishes, trimmed and sliced organic red onions, peeled and thinly sliced (I used a mandolin slicer) 3/4 C vinegar (I used white distilled vinegar) 3/4 C water 3 T organic granulated sugar 1 T salt (I used some grey sea salt) 6 to 8 grinds of black pepper Proce
